MIRI: Visitors to Tusan beach have called on the authorities
concerned to provide better facilities as the area is becoming
increasingly popular.
May Ng, 27, a tourist from Kuala Lumpur said she heard a lot about Tusan beach and the Blue Tears phenomenon from her friends.
“A few days ago, I read online that the Blue Tears phenomenon has
returned and that it has already been three nights. I packed my things
and took the flight to Miri,” she said when met on Saturday.
Ng said she managed to capture some pictures of the phenomenon but it was not as striking as those she saw online.
“Even though I was a bit disappointed, but the breath-taking scenery
at the beach and the cliffs made my journey here worth it,” she said.
Ng pointed out that tourists visiting the beach want to enjoy the
beautiful sunsets and would appreciate having benches to sit on.
“I used the toilet once and there were only two toilets – one for
women and the other one for men. The flush was broken, and that the
water was from a tank. I honestly think that this should be replaced
with better facilities urgently,” she said.
Regular visitor Mohamad Shahrul, 50, also agreed that the facilities
needed to be improved to promote tourism in Tusan as well as Miri in
general.
“For example, to get to the beach, we have to go downhill passing the
cliff which sometimes is slippery. There are no proper stairs provided
to get down to the beach and there is no handrail to hold on to,” he
said.
