MIRI: Construction and tar-sealing of road networks in Baram could cost the government as much as RM3 billion.
However, Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau said the project was possible with the total commitment from the people to spur Baram with vibrant economic and development activities.
“The effort to tar seal all the roads in Baram is relatively costly. From my own calculation, the cost for tar sealed road works can be as high as RM3 billion.

“But, I believe this project can be made possible if we can spur Baram with vibrant activities,” he said when officiating at a
prize presentation for Beautiful Telang Usan Photography Competition at Meritz Hotel here on Saturday.
In view of that, he urged the rural folks in Baram expecialy from his constituency to play active roles by conducting activities to draw participation of the people from outside Baram. He called on the people to further enhance efforts in the tourism sector.
“Apart from promoting our culture and places of interest in Baram, tourism will accelerate the economic activities in the area thus helping to uplift the living standard of rural folks.
“If we are able to attract more visitors and tourists to visit our place, I’m sure the state government will assist us by providing the necessary infrastructures to support our tourism endeavour.”
On the photography competition, he gave his thumbs up to the effort in organising the competition which aimed to promote the tourism potential in Telang Usan area.
“Let us make this photography competition as a way to put Telang Usan in the world map of tourism industry one day.”
More that 300 entries were received for the competition, organised by his Telang Usan constituency service centre in collaboration with Miri Photographic Society.
